Using your Chrome extensions "Tab Scissors" and "Tab Glue"

Using your Chrome extensions "Tab Scissors" and "Tab Glue"

Extensions on Google Chrome are small add-ons that modifies or adds functionality to your browser or the current website you are on.

MVLA has pushed out the extensions "Tab Scissors" and "Tab Glue". These extensions can be found in the upper right-hand corner of your browser - the little icons of scissors and a glue cap.

Clicking on "Tab Scissors" will split your screen evenly between two tabs (two webpages). This can become very help for you and your students.

If you have multiple tabs open in Chrome, you can use Tab Scissors to split Chrome into two smaller side by side windows.  You simply select the tab you want to use for the dividing point, and then click on the "Tab Scissors" extension icon.  All the tabs on the left side of the selected tab will go to the left window, and all of the tabs to the right of the selected tab will move to the window on the right.
Click on "Tab Glue" and your webpages go back to full-screen view.

This allows you to read your email in one window, while using the other window to work on a document, read a related website, or such.
"Tab Scissors" is also useful for  working in Google Docs.  When working on a Google Document or Google Presentation, there are many ways to add images to your document or slides.  One nice option is to simply drag and drop an image from a website into your document or slide.  With Tab Scissors this is easy to do.  Simply split Chrome so that your Google Document is in one window and the image you want is in the other window.  You can now just drag and drop the image from its Chrome window right into the document or slide show you are creating.

Another example of using "Tab Scissors" is entering grade into Aeries. You may have Google Classroom open on Grade page and have Aeries also open. "Tab Scissors" can easily split the screen between the two sites so you can look at the grades in GClassroom and enter them in Aeries.

If students are watching a video and taking notes, or reading an article and taking online notes - this may be a quick help click to split the screen between the content and the page for notes .

"Tab Scissors" and "Tab Glue" is a nice extension to make life a little easier for people working in the cloud.
